2014 Xi Kong from Tea Urchin

2014 Xi Kong

In a Sentence
Herbal sweet simplicity.
Wet Leaf Aroma
musk, wet wool, orchid - flowery scent, honey, sweet.
Tasting Notes
The tea starts with clear honey sweetness and a light floral (orchid maybe?) note. The texture is thin and slightly watery but leaves a soft (almost viscous) coating. A vegetal, herbal note quickly undercuts the evocation of sweetness leaving a thin herbaceous base. Low bitterness in the back of the mouth. The taste starts promising and sweet, yet lacks significant depth or development. Over the steeps, the tea becomes lighter, with sweetness fading into a more neutral, slightly mineral profile. Overall, bright tea which starts promising but does not evolve or linger much.
What it feels like
The tea offers a gentle calming effect, though energy is soft and not very strong. Overall, it feels muted and dimmed down, with a floral brightness.
