This tea was a surprise. I got it as a free sample with my last order - and while i would not have chosen it by the description of the website alone (noting astringency, which is often a reason for me to avoid - if the vendor states it:) - it turned out to be my favorite tea from the entire order. I could not find astringeny in it, just a gentle bitterness - but of the sort which feels good - interwoven by a juicy sweetness. Its it light, yes - but also solid and balanced. But the Manzhuan aroma always gets me.
From the few teas I’ve tried from this region, I recall a similar character: juicy, mouthwatering, and with a satisfying sweetness that flows down like water. This one is also quite ‘round’ which makes it great to drink now. Not a high end production in terms of energy, but the aroma and the thirst quenching experience convince by themselves, a great package overall - for my palate that is:)
As many tea enthusiasts know, cakes can pile up quickly, especially if you buy them without knowing what you’ll like or what else there is in the depths of the puerh world.
I quickly realized that while I’m happy to try a few cakes after learning the hard way that not all of them are my favorites, I now only get those I know I’ll enjoy from start to finish. This is one of them.
