1990s Hongkong stored Liu Bao

Wet Leaf Aroma
earthy, mellow, sharpened pencil, woody, mineral, rust
Tasting Notes
Opens with a mineral-iron note, almost rusty at first, which quickly settles into an earthy, grounded body. Woody profile throughout, with a low bitterness early on that gives a good frame without dominating. Little to no fruitiness, just a faint tangy hunch, almost more of a splash than an actual note. Nuts in the background. Caramel like sweetness. Mineral tones and ginseng run underneath. Drinks well, with a light metallic sharpness in the background that's not unpleasant.
In a Sentence
Calm mineral depth.
What it feels like
Soothing from the first cup. Energy has a soft feel and remains a while.

I rediscovered this one in my cupboard today - ordered it maybe two years ago, 50g, and this is the last of it, mostly small leaf bits and dust. I was surprised by how soft and beautiful it still is.

The first few times I drank it, I don't remember the energy to be so outstanding, but today, it felt really calming and centering from the first cup - a kind of integrated, grounded quality with great lingering aftertaste. The storage is well done. Clean, no off notes, quite wet by character but without anything harsh.
